A clipping from the The Weekly News of 16 April 1909 recounting in exquisite detail the wedding gifts and their donors
MARRIAGE OF CORDELIA OWEN

PRETTY WEDDING — Amongst the many weddings that were celebrated this Eastertide may be mentioned that of Miss Cordelia Williams, of Ellerslee, Hawarden Road, to Mr Albert E Wright, of Chester, formerly of Colwyn Bay. The service was conducted on Saturday last by the Rev. John Edwards at the English Presbyterian Church, where the bride and bridegroom are very popular. The bride was charmingly attired in white, and was supported by the bridesmaids, Miss Lizzie Williams and the little Mrs Rodna Williams and Dilys Davies, who looked most engaging in white Jap silk dresses, and who carried baskets of daffodils. The best man was Mr W.O. Edwards of Ffestiniog, and the bride was given away by her uncle, the Reverend Caleb Williams of Penmaenmawr. The numerous presents included cutlery and linen from the bride’s mother: cheques, Mr and Mrs W Wright, of Liverpool, Mr Oliver Wright, of Sheffield, and the bridegroom’s sisters; silver teapot, Miss Wright; carvers, Mr Arnold Williams; brass fire irons, Miss Julia H Williams; silver cruet and biscuit barrel, Mr and Mrs R.M. Owen, of Stoke Newington; tea service, Mr and Mrs John M. Owen, of Wandsworth; silver preserve dish, Mr and Mrs Cobden Owen, of Hammersmith; table centre, Mrs Gwendoline Owen; pair of framed engravings, the Rev. and Mrs John Edwards; pair of vases, the bride’s Sunday school class; wedding cake, Mr Gurnall Williams, of St. Helens; fish carvers, Miss Millie Orram; dinner service, Mr and Mrs Hosking, of Peckham; two hand-painted placques, Mrs Johnson; preserve dish, Mr and Mrs I.H. Jones, “Kenilworth”; hand-worked piano cover, Miss Millie Roberts; silver toast rack, Miss Porter and Mr Shelton; water-coloured landscape, Messrs. Booth; brass candlesticks, Mrs and Miss Aldis; brass brush-tray, Mr Hughes; framed text, Masters Stuart and Gorlan Hosking; silver-plated butter dish, Miss Freggatt; plated sugar salver, Mr and Mrs Scotchner of Stowmarket; drawn-thread traycloth, Mrs Green, Pwlleli; and cake dish, Miss Dilys Davies.
